There are accompanying videos available at www.youtube.com/@EmilysFabrications, covering how to draft the pattern from scratch or modify it, as well as how to sew it together.

Its starting point is as a quick feed bag that attaches to your bike in the corner of your handlebar and stem, for when you want easy access to things like snacks or extra water bottles. But that’s only the start! You can carry it on your belt or strap it onto a shoulder strap. You can attach a shoulder strap directly to the Snack Sack and use it as a water bottle carrier on its own. Add insulation to keep your beverage cool, or padding and use it to carry a camera lens. Add a pocket to carry your wallet or phone.

The basic structure of the Snack Sack is infinitely variable, useful for carrying almost anything that’s vaguely close to cylindrical. You can easily modify this pattern to be longer or wider, and modify the position of the straps. See page 4 for detailed instructions on how to do modify the size and shape, or head over to the Emily’s Fabrications channel on YouTube for video instructions.

Difficulty Level: This pattern is an accessible, beginner-friendly project. It is very quick for an experienced sewist, and is also a beginner-friendly foray into making or modifying your patterns. The pattern instructions include details on how to modify the size to fit your needs, and the accompanying videos further explain how to draft it from scratch.

Materials: This is a great project for using up scraps or up-cycling materials, and any sturdy fabric can work well. I recommend nylon or cotton canvas, or ripstop nylon. The biggest consideration is that the outside fabric needs to be sturdy enough that it will not rip under load where the webbing is stitched down.

This is a downloadable, digital pattern. Upon purchase, you will receive links to download the following files:
• Separate files for sizes large and small, formatted for printing on letter or A4 printer paper
• Separate files for sizes large and small, formatted for large format (A0) printing or use with a projector
• Comprehensive instructions including detailed photos, discussion of materials, and a list of suggested vendors

Once you have purchased this pattern, you’ll also have access to any updated versions or errata should they be needed.

Materials list:
Outer fabric: Approximately 9”x13”
Lining fabric: Approximately 13”x13”
Webbing: 20” including only the sewn-down straps; 50” including three additional loose straps.
